The Soil Association was founded in 1946. It is one of several sector bodies that certify organic products to show that they meet a rigorous set
of standards, which define organic production.
The Soil Association certifies Abaca Organic, the company and
its products.
We are proud to be the first company in the world to achieve Soil
Association certification for our organic mattresses.
This means that our practices and processes are all inspected annually. As are all the suppliers and processors in the chain. In addition the Soil Association acts as a lobbying body to ensure that policy makers are aware of the interests and concerns of organic producers and procesors.
Promoting organic products and farming to a wider public is also part of their remit.
We are proud to display the Soil Association mark on our organic mattreses. |

By buying a product containing British wool you are helping to maintain a viable alternative market for UK sheep farmers. All Abaca mattresses contain organic British wool.
The British Wool Marketing Board (BWMB) is the last remaining agricultural commodity board in the UK.
Its sole purpose is to market UK fleece wool and to get the best price for UK sheep farmers. To do this they collect, grade, sell and promote fleece wool and return all profit to the sheep farmers.
They also license companies such as Abaca to use the British Wool trademark. This is subject to products meeting their requirements for e.g. British wool content.
Abaca sources all their organic wool from Wales supporting farms that have been rearing sheep for generations.
We are proud to display the British Wool mark on our organic mattresses. |
